YouTube Tips – Music
So, you want to use music on your YouTube videos. Sweet!
BUT. Before you run off and use your favorite song from iTunes, listen up. If you want to partner your channel and monetize your videos, adding music to your videos isn’t as simple as it seems…
My latest YouTube Tips video deals with the use of Music in videos. I talk a lot about copyright and how if you want to use music you basically have two options.
1. Contact the Record companies/those who own copyright to the songs and ask them for permission or pay MASSIVE royalties ($$) to use the song.
2. Use FREE Royalty free and Creative Commons music and not have to pay a dime, but you do have to give proper attribution in your videos.
Watch my video below to see a much more detailed explanation.
If you don’t own it, don’t upload it. Just because it’s free to download doesn’t mean it’s free to use.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a copyright strike on your channel, you can’t use copyrighted music and expect to get partnered.
There are plenty of sources for royalty free music out there, but I would stay away from YouTube Channels advertising “Uncopyrighted” Music.
Here are some good sites for royalty free music.
