Break? Yes please.

Yes, it is finally upon us (almost [and for Geneva College students at least])
The long sought after Thanksgiving Break!

Oh yes, I can taste the gravy now. But is the meal the only thing we are truly looking forward to? Of course not!
There’s sitting around, watching football, eating more food on top of the food we already ate, and more sitting around!
If it wouldn’t be for Thanksgiving Break, I think many college students would go nuts. It’s almost crazy how much relief and relaxation that the 5 day break gives.
What are your plans for break? Or are you already on break? You plan to eat more food than you should? (I know I will).
Well I’m sure you will hear more from me while I’m on break, since I will have all the time in the world….hopefully. haha

Well while you are sitting around waiting for break to come, maybe you should check out my YouTube Channel once again!

My free iOS app giveaway is still open also! Only 6 more subscribers until the giveaway is over!

Thanks for reading this rant, even if it was all over the place. It’s just more evidence as to why break needs to be here now. haha

Veteran’s Day

Today is a day to thank and remember all who have served our country and are currently serving it now. We would not have the freedom we have today if it wasn’t for those who have fought for this country. Remember, freedom isn’t free. It costs a price. Many men have died for this country and I am forever thankful for that. Without them fighting for this country, we may not have the freedoms that we so often take for granted.

Freedom of speech.
Freedom of religion.
Freedom of the press.
Freedom of assembly.
Freedom of petition.

The list of freedoms and rights goes on. But it is only possible to have these freedoms because of those who have sacrificed their time, energy, and sometimes their lives.

“America is founded on the principle of freedom, justice, and liberty for all. Our nation’s soldiers serve every day to protect our country and its ideals. On Veteran’s Day, take a sacred moment to remember those who sacrifice their lives every moment to achieve peace and democracy.”

May God Bless America and all of those who have served and are currenlty serving.

MAN LUNCH! The History of Testosterone…and Lunch.

Welcome all, and in this post, I’m going to post a little history of MAN LUNCH!

When did Man Lunch start you say?
Freshman Year, Spring Semester. Four guys. Tyler Schoenberger, Nate Mansor, Chuck Walters, and Myself.
We decided that we should take at least one day out of the week (it was two days for a few weeks) and dedicate it to being a MAN. We realized we just need a meal to sit down and be men with each other.

Now does this involve being vulgar, sick, and rude? No, it doesn’t. We are very respectful. We don’t make fun of other people, and we always clean up after ourselves and put tables back when we are done eating. But enough of that, let’s take a look at some more history of Man Lunch.

At first, Man Lunch really wasn’t the Man Lunch we know and love today. It was just a couple a guys sitting around talking about being a man and dealing with guy stuff. It wasn’t until we gained more members, did we really embrace the name “Man Lunch.”
Man Lunch began to grow, soon we had 6 people, then 8, then 10. Our record attendance for Man Lunch is 21 men…now that’s a lot of testosterone let me tell ya.

Last year is when Man Lunch took a very serious turn. We actually tried to become a club on Geneva’s Campus but we were shot down. Probably for the obvious reasons, like we were sexist (which we really aren’t. Women are very important, but sometimes we just need a time for men to be men and have Man Lunch.). But of course there are clubs that are for minorities, certain majors, and other stuff, but we can’t have a club called “Man Lunch.” You can’t say we weren’t prepared either. We had officers listed and names signed, we had an advisor, and we had a huge constitution written by our president himself, Mr. Nate MANsor. Still, in the end. We didn’t receive club status, but I guess it’s better that way. Now we don’t have any rules to follow except our own. Ha.

Man Lunch also received a Facebook fan page last year and it is still active with members and posts and what not. (You should check it out, MAN LUNCH!!! on fb).

Man Lunch has also picked up an official anthem. The Doxology (led by Ian Taylor), sung at an extremely low key, as we are all men, and after it we end our lunch with a chant of “MAN LUNCH!”

Contrary to some people’s beliefs, Man Lunch is a serious group composed of serious people. We have serious talks and we actually care about what goes on this campus. We are also strong Christians. We often talk about God and Christianity during Man Lunch, and we are trying to get in the habit of praying together before we have lunch. All in all, Man Lunch is dedicated to all those who are men, who want to spend time with their fellow men, and have a great time doing it.

So that’s it. A little history of Man Lunch. If you have any questions, visit us in the Brig on Thursdays at 12:30 or just message me, write on this blog, or write on the Man Lunch FB wall.
Thanks for reading!

Also, I have one last thing to say…..”NOW THERE’S A MAN!” (the official Man Lunch slogan.)

More videos? And a Request from Me…

Like I said before, I have a YouTube Channel (TGameNTech) where I review tech/games/anything interesting. haha. You can check it out here
TGameNTech

If you have seen those videos, would you be interested in me making more videos of the same kind? Maybe even more videos of a different style?

I just got out of Video Practicum and I got some really encouraging comments from the instructor on how good my videos are and I was kind of surprised. I mean I know they aren’t bad, but I didn’t think they were anything great, but hey, maybe they are decent. I dunno.

I am really getting in to this video thing and if I can continue to make a profit from Google through it I would definitely be willing to pour more time and energy in to it.

What you guys can do to help me is to share my blog posts with other people. Share my YouTube channel with other people, and just in general respond to my posts and videos. Even just one comment makes a video worth it and gives the creator that much more incentive to keep going. Thanks for reading everyone. Let me know what you think below, and please sign your name so I know who you are! (or else it says the comment is from anonymous. haha)

Thanks again!
Tyler

YouTube Channel, whaaaat?

Hey all,
As some of you may, or may not know, I have a channel on YouTube called TGameNTech. I talk and review tech/games. Go figure. haha.
I am just writing this blog to let you all know that I am doing a give away soon for all of you out there with iOS devices. It’s nothing huge, but it’s just something to say thanks to the people who have subscribed and watched my videos. (I have 30 subscribers and over 23,000 total video views).
I will be posting the video on my channel sometime soon (maybe tonight?) And it will run until I get 50 subscribers.
The rules to be eligible for the giveaway will be included in the video.
I am making money off of doing this. I made an account with Google Adsense so I do get some revenue per view and ad click and I hope to generate more traffic on my channel with these giveaways. Hopefully if I can get a good user base going, the giveaways can get bigger and better. 😉

I am doing this channel mainly because I like technology and games and I like to talk about them. And going by views, some one out there likes to listen to me. I am also doing this to just get a better handle on recording and editing video (since it’s part of my integrated media major).

I figured now is a good a time as ever to get my channel out there, so go watch and be merry! (And stay tuned for the app giveaway)

Here’s my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TGameNTech

Comments/Suggestions are definitely accepted. Don’t be a jerk though, because that’s just low.
Subscribing would be nice. 😉

Tyler Miller: Squirrel Master

Don’t doubt it for a minute. The squirrels will obey me, after I have gained their trust.
Let’s just say I offered a squirrel an offer he couldn’t refuse….

A Granola Bar
Yes, that’s right. I have a squirrel pieces of a granola bar. And he loved every minute of it. I baited him over, dropped the piece of granola in front of him and he snatched it up like…like…squirrels snatch things up.
As soon as he grabbed it, he sat down on his rear end, curled his tail, and went to work. I think he enjoyed it a little too much…but that’s okay. Even squirrels should get a little special treatment every once and awhile. (Except the one that caused the campus to go into a 3 hour long power outage, but that squirrel paid his price..)
So I am glad I could make a difference today in a squirrel’s life. I hope he runs back to his tree, tells his squirrel friends about me, and one day I will walk to class…surrounded by my squirrel army. But be warned though, the squirrels are feisty creatures and it takes time to earn their trust. Lookie here.
Watch yourself. Stay tuned for more squirrel updates.

It’s Madness I say, Madness!

YES!  (Picture of us at the bottom)
We finally won. After years of not being recognized, we won. Now if you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s a quick summary.
At Geneva College, we have this thing called Midnight Madness. It is basically a pep rally for winter sports and there’s a kick. The whole student body dresses up in their favorite costumes and there are chances to win prizes.

My sophomore year, a group of people and myself dressed up as Super Mario World. Listen close, not just Mario and Luigi, but Super Mario World. The costumes included:
Mario, Luigi, a warp pipe WITH A PIRANHA PLANT, an item box, a star, a mushroom, and we even had gold coins!
That year we didn’t even get called down to the floor to be voted on. Other wonderful things, like “Trash” made it down. Give me a break. That evening we left with a very sour attitude. We were determined to make things change.
Last year, a few people dressed up as some people from Dodgeball. I wasn’t involved this time around, but at least they won a drawing. Free movie tickets and some cash toward Chi-Burger Chi-Burger.

Now, This year. We won it. We dressed up as the X-MEN. Our costumes included:
Professor X (in a wheel chair), Magneto, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Emma Frost, Rogue, and Mystique. Talk about a freakin awesome group of costumes.
We got called down to the floor, thank goodness, and we ended up face to face with a group of people dressed up as Toy Story. Now their costumes were okay, but ours were so synched, and a ton of stuff was hand made. It looked to me like Toy Story bought most of their stuff, but I dunno. I’m not gonna judge/say for sure.

Anyways, the crowds were roaring, and we pulled out a victory. FINALLY. I felt like things were made right from the wrong we were given when we were Super Mario World…haha. It made sound cheezy but it felt good.

A lot of work went in to our costumes. People shaved, dyed their hair for real, made stuff that took two hours, and sprayed their whole bodies with paint. Talk about dedication. I’m glad that in the end, the X-MEN stood victorious.
